Who We Are + How We Got Here
Genusus - The Company
First things first: It's ja-NOO-sis
People ask us if we spelled "genius" wrong on purpose to be funny. Or if we misspelled "genesis". But neither is true (although we like the idea of spelling "genius" wrong on purpose).
The name of our company is a contraction of Latin words that means "to create an experience".
That refers to our goal to create web sites that give visitors a positive experience. One that's easy and straightforward and that looks nice, too. One that gives your visitors a great first impression of your company, products, services and brand.
We've been around since 1998, and we've been developing Content Management Systems since that time, too...since before they were called that! We've had the privilege of working with companies of all sizes, in both the U.S. and Europe. We see every project as a potential learning experience, and we aim to leverage what we learn on every project after that.
Lou Zucaro, CEO + Co-Founder
Before co-founding Genusus, Lou worked on independent film & video projects, started a multimedia division at MPI Media Group, and produced video games for Kinesoft, a subsidiary of the Gamebank joint-venture between Microsoft and Softbank.
In 1998 he helped found Genusus (originally as Net Specialists Corp), and began to develop custom Content Management Systems for companies like ST Microelectronics, TAP and QUMAS, among many others.
Since that time, he's been the Lead Developer and Project Manager on all of our company's major projects and continues to drive the development of and enhance our PagePuppet and MenuMinder CMS products, making them better and better all the time.
Lou is also a professional Voice Actor and can be heard in commercials for companies like Blackberry, Gerber Collision & Glass, Star Financial, Sears, Caterpillar as well as projects for World Book, SAS, Allstate, Sara Lee and more.
When not working, Lou spends most of his time with his wife and son in the NW suburbs of Chicago. He's an avid entertainment fan who co-hosts the weekly Pause.com Entertainment Podcast with Tony Incopero.
And yes, he took that picture himself.
Kelsey Nelson, MenuMinder Account Specialist
Kelsey has always loved anything to do with the culinary world. She first started working for a frozen pizza factory at the age of 15 and continued to cook in restaurants up until she attended Kendall College in Chicago and graduated with a Culinary Arts A.A.S. She is taking a break from restaurant kitchens and has found her perfect job at Genusus working on MenuMinder, as she gets to look at menus all day!
In the future, Kelsey hopes to move to Florida and combine her passions for food and writing and work for a food magazine. Meanwhile, she enjoys cooking, shopping, music, watching movies, searching for the perfect Pad Thai and spending time with her boyfriend and dwarf hamster named Gizmo.
